Career: Jumoke Michael-Ojo - CEO Mandies Cocktails

AS caught up with the CEO of Mandies cocktails Jumoke Michael-Ojo to talk about her journey in the world of cocktails and beverages which began in 2012.

After working for 7 years as a human resource consultant at KPMG in Nigeria, Jumoke ventured into the cocktail business. Citing a gap in the industry, whereby cocktails were not properly made and very little attention was given to presentation details, she decided to change that.
Today she owns one of the most successful Cocktail and beverage brand in the industry, known for exceptional quality and outstanding presentation .

How would you describe yourself in one word?

How did you get started in the business?
I have always been enterprising; got that from my mum. No matter how comfortable I am, I always find a business to do by the side. I needed another source of income aside been a Reward consultant and I found my passion in cocktails catering. I discussed the idea with my husband he encouraged and backed me up.

What motivates you to get out of bed in the morning?
1) Moving the brand forward. 2) My Team - they are so hardworking and devoted they motivate me to get up and keep pushing – I can't afford to be complacent.

If you worked in a restaurant what role would you want?
Owner of course...not settling for less.

How did you get the background and skills necessary to run this type of business?
Coming from a consulting background, researching is a natural part of me. I did a lot of research and later went to Shaker Bar School in London UK to get certified.

Do you have employees? How many?
10 permanent and semi permanent staffs and others are on call.

Why do your customers select you over your competitors?
I will say our consistency in delivering quality service overtime and our customer service.

Where do you see your business in the next year? In the next 5,10 years?
In the next 5 years, we see us running a full bar-tending training institution and opened and running 2 or more cocktails outlets around the country

What advise would you give someone who is inspired by you and wants to get into the business?
Do your research, be creative, be humble and stay FOCUSED.

Tell us something about you that no one knows.
I am a Telemundo fan.
